Wear United FC Youth Teams Under 14s fourth game of the league season was at home vs Washington Blacks today on a fresh morning at Success Road!

The message to the boys was to get out of first gear early and push for a quick goal, and that was exactly what they did when Kai S grabbed his first of the season with a low left-foot drive under the keeper on 5 minutes.

Washignton piled on the pressure for the next ten minutes bombing forward, but Wear’s defence in Leif, Max and Scott handled it well. Thomas was always available in goal to receive back passes, calmly distributing to the midfield.

The 15th minute saw Washington Blacks get an equaliser following a cross to find their man unmarked in the box to sweep it home. 1-1

9 minutes later, Junior popped up on the edge of the box following a scramble to put Wear back in the lead with a sweetly struck drive into the bottom corner. 2-1.

Just a minute later, Wear had a corner which was taken by Alfie who curled the ball in over the near post defender and straight into the net for 3-1 and moment of the match! Unfortunately, Washington’s keeper collided heavily with the post and couldn’t continue the game. Everyone at Wear hopes he’s ok and recovers quickly ?

The second half started as quickly as the first, when captain Leif sent Aidan into miles of space to sprint into the box and slot away a lovely 4th of the afternoon for Wear. 4-1.

It took just 4 minutes for Wear to find a fifth of the game when Junior threw an excellent long throw into the box, finding Zak on his own to volley low past the keeper. 5-1.

Wear were awarded a penalty just minutes later with Leif stepping up to take it, but unfortunately the Washington keeper made a great save to keep the score at 5-1.

It was Washington who grabbed the next goal with a precision through ball finding their pacey forward who finished beautifully past the oncoming Thomas into the bottom corner of the net. 5-2

And 6 minutes later, a stunning ball over the top found David sprinting inside from the left wing to grab his goal and make it 6-2 to Wear.

Thomas was called upon twice in a few minutes at the end and pulled off two fantastic saves to help with our goal difference.

4 wins out of 4 in the league for the lads so far this season… an absolutely brilliant start.

Mo and Son’s Barbers Player of the Match was captain Leif. Outstanding at the back, going forward and a beautiful assist to top it off.

Moment of the match went to Alfie for an excellent goal direct from the corner.
