Wear United were back in league action following heavy cup defeat last week, and hoping to bag three points against a Heighington team that always prove to be stern opposition.

Wear had the better of the early exchanges forcing Heighington into their own half for the vast majority of the first 12 minutes, when they had a free kick outside the box awarded. Corey scored directly from the freekick with a sublime dipping shot that gave the keeper no chance. 1-0 Wear!

Heighington threw themselves out of the blocks looking for an instant reaction, and found the equaliser just 3 minutes after going down, catching Wear off guard!

The game was at a stalemate for 15 minutes or so when wear found themselves winning a free kick again, well outside of the box. Corey once again stood over the ball, and whipped an absolute rocket into the top of the net to make it 2-1 to Wear.

The second half saw Wear start aggressively, bombing forward and putting the Heighington defence under pressure. 2 minutes after the restart, Luke bagged his first Wear goal to put them 3-1 ahead!

Heighington then got back into the game on a big way, changing their formation and packing the midfield stifling Wear's attempts to get out of their own half. The pressure paid off on 50 minutes when Heighington clawed a goal back to make it 3-2.

But just 4 minutes later, David found himself one on one with the keeper and scored to make it 4-2 and give that all important two goal cushion.

Heighington were determined to get back into the game, and scored a lovely finish to make the score 4-3 and creating a very nervy and tense ending to the game! In the final minutes, Jacob made a superb save that helped Wear see the game out and get another 3 points on the board!

Unbeaten in three games, sitting second in the league. What a fantastic turnaround from the boys after a tough season last year!
