Wear played their first home game of the season at Success Road this morning against a team new to the RFYL Div10 in Hartlepool FC Golds, who had a big win last weekend.
Hartlepool Golds started the game the much stronger team, constantly bombarding forward and deservedly took the lead on the 6th minute.
It took another 15 minutes or so for Wear to get a grip on the game, but when they did they dominated for the rest of the half. In a superb spell of flowing passing and attacking football, Harry found himself on the ball outside of the box following Thomas' corner and looped a superb strike over the top of the Golds keeper on 24 minutes.
Wear continued to have the better of the game and 11 minutes later, Harry found himself through again following a sublime through ball, beating 3 defenders with pace and strength and finished with an absolute rocket into the bottom corner to put Wear 2-1 up going into half time!
Wear started the stronger in the second half again, with David getting his first of the competitive season by tackling the Golds defender and running directly at goal, finishing with a lovely composed effort. 3-1 Wear!
From this moment on the game got very scrappy with some harsh tackles going in from both teams and a few stoppages for injuries. Golds took control of the game again, scoring on the 47th minute to peg one back.
On the 63rd minute, Golds were awarded a penalty which was tucked away nicely to make it 3-3, and just 4 minutes later Wear were awarded a penalty following a tackle from behind. Alfie stepped up to take it but the keeper made an excellent save meaning the game finished with a point each.
A massive team performance and huge improvements from Wear... 2 games down and already 4 points on the board!
