Similar story for Vedra

Vedra were up early to get to Downhill hub for today's early kick off. The team were missing Jacob this week but had 2 debutants in Finlay and Oliver T. Vedra knew they were up against it today playing a team that had inflicted an heavy defeat on them just a few ago.
Vedra didn't seem to be too nervous in the opening minutes. Oscar had a good shot saved in the first minute and this was followed a couple of minutes later by a great move involving Oliver, Sam, Joey and James before Logan shot wide, excellent football from Vedra. Callum made a good save in the second minute but was having very little to so for the first minutes. Joey had a good shot over the bar in the 9th minute before Callum again had to make a good save in the 12th minute.
It was starting to develop into a very good game. Vedra were passing nicely but Velocity were starting to get more and more into the game. It was Velocity who took the lead in the 14th minute when the tall winger hit a great shot over Callum. 1-0.
Vedra looked a little less confident after this but were still playing some nice football. Finlay put a nice cross in from the left that just evaded Oscar and Logan and did the same a few minutes later after a very good pass out wide from Ollie. Unfortunately these 2 moves were split by Velocity increasing their lead when Vedra failed to stop a cross and left the small Velocity striker free to score in the 21st minute. 2-0 at half time.
Overall it had been a good half for Vedra and they were unlucky to be behind. A good start to half would have put them right back on course. Unfortunately this wasn't to be as Velocity broke down their left and again crossed to an unmarked player. Oliver did his best to clear but after the ball came back down off the bar a Velocity player was first to it score. 3-0.
At this point Vedra were finding it very hard to get out. Good defending from Oliver, Corah and Frankie and some good saves from Callum keeping the score down but in the 34th minute a Corah block was adjudged to be handball and Velocity dispatched the penalty to make it 4-0. This was followed in the 40th minute when poor marking led to the score being 5-0.
Vedra picked themselves up and played very well for the remainder of the game. Callum made a very good double save and rushed off his line to stop an attack with the aid of Sam but Vedra created a few chances in the final minutes. First Ollie picked the ball up in his own half before dribbling forward and hitting a nice shot that was saved. Fin was then well found by Oscar before hitting a great shot against the bar. Sam hit in a nice cross which just missed James and Joey had a good shot saved by the keeper. All of this made it very sad when in the 58th minute the same player who opened the scoring for Velocity cut in from the right and hit a great shot in off the bar to make it 6-0.
At the end of the game the teamtalk focussed on the many positives from today's game. Vedra had passed the ball very nicely, worked hard and kept going throughout the game. The Velocity coach gave Callum the star player award this week for his very confident goalkeeping performance which mean that Kev was able to offer a further award to James who had made some very good passes throughout the game.
Plenty to be proud of despite the scoreline, on to next week.
