Another home game for the Yellows today against Ryton and Crawcrook. The lads were without Lucas Bainbridge who had a training injury but had everyone else available.
The game started well for the Yellows with Leon winning a challenge and then racing through to open the scoring on 3 minutes. 1.0.
That though was pretty much as good as it got for Wear as they dropped their effort levels at the same time that Ryton picked things up. Callum had already raced off his line to make a trademark block before Ryton equalised on 12 minutes.
This was followed a few minutes later by Ryton racing through away as the Yellows trudged back. This time the Ryton forward managed to get past Callum before scoring past Kaden's attempt to block on the line and make it 2.1.
Thomas a chance to get a goal back but the Ryton Goalie made a great double save from him before Ryton completed the scoring for the half with a well taken shot from outside the box.
It had been a poor half for the Yellows and the message at half time was that if they upped their efforts they would get into the game. This was proven early in the half as Sean won a ball back, dribbled into the box and thumped a ball into the top of the net to make it 3.2.
The Yellows were now working much better but Ryton were still very dangerous on the attack. Callum was alert of his line a couple of times before Ryton won a free-kick on the edge of the Yellows box. The cross in was a good one and the ball was bundled in at the back post to make it 2.4.
The Yellows didn't let this put them off. Oscar had a good shot blocked, Reggie had a great shot saved and Lenny almost scored after Mason's shot was saved before Sean was fouled in the box to give Wear the chance to make it 4.3. Ollie stepped up to take the kick and put it into the bottom left corner to give the lads hope for the last few minutes.
Ryton were still dangerous going forward but Wear had chances from corners and free-kicks that just missed the telling touch. In the end it was a Ryton head that put into their own goal from a Sam corner to make it 4.4 with 5 minutes to go.
Both sides had half chances to win it but the game finished in a deserved draw. The first half performance had been well below the level required but the second had been the reaction required from the half-time team talk. There were some good performances from the lads. Lenny was really busy all game, Sean was his usual self and Ollie and Oscar both had great games. Mason won Star Player this week for a great performance, busy in the tackle, good in the air and calm on the ball,
