After a break of a week the Yellows were back in action with a home game against Hilda Park. The game started well for the Yellows as Sam poked just wide on the follow up after the Hilda keeper spilled Lucas Bainbridge's shot. Sam followed this up minutes later with a shot just wide of the far post from the edge of the box. The Yellows were winning everything and pushing forwards. The Hilda keeper saved again from Sam and Lucas with his feet before another shot from Lucas was blocked before Leon header in over the keeper to make it 1-0 after 12 minutes. It almost got better for Wear as Sam's measured cross saw Leon get a toe to it but his shot evaded both the far post and Lenny trying to get onto the end of it.
Wear were really good. Finley and Mason in particular were winning the ball back and sending the Yellows forward. Sean was particularly busy and he linked with Lucas to let Lucas get a shot away which was well saved. Thomas followed in on the ball, his shot hit the bar but fell to Sam who scored with a right foot shot.
Hilda had not really been in the game in the first 30 minutes but finished the half well and almost got a goal back on half-time as the striker got past Callum before Ryan cleared his shot off the line with a great overhead kick. 2-0 at half time.
For all that the Yellows dominated the first half it was a different story in the second half as Hilda Park had the better of the game. Wear still looked dangerous on the break with Lucas having a good run before his shot was blocked and Mason hitting a shot against the bar but for most of the half it was a committed defensive performance that saw Wear claim the points. Callum had to come off his line a few times and made one great diving save. Hilda had a goal correctly disallowed for handball from a corner before Ollie followed Ryan's lead with a goal line clearance, this time with his head after the same Hilda Park striker chipped the ball over Callum.
All in all it was a good performance from the lads, playing some great football in the first half and playing very well defensively in the second half. Lucas, Mason, Ollie and Sean had great games but it was Finley who took the star player award this week.
