Another home game for the Yellows against new opposition in Darlington 21st Allstars. The squad were missing Reggie who was on holiday but should've had plenty of confidence after a good performance though a defeat from their first game.
It didn't turn out that way as really half-hearted defending saw Darlington rush into a 3 goal lead in the opening minutes. The Yellows were just not on the ball at all and were second to every challenge from the much more determined Darlington players. It could have been a lot worse as Callum made a really good save with his feet to keep the score at 0-3.
Gradually the Yellows managed to get a foot into the game. Good work from Lucas Bainbridge and Lucas Branton saw Sam cut inside into the box. His right-footed shot was brilliantly saved by the Darlo keeper. Just after this Kaden and Sean had headers over from corners before Sam pulled a goal back with a brilliant run and shot to leave the score as 1-3 at half time.
The second half saw the Yellows much more into the game and with a bit more effort to get into the box they would have scored a couple of goals from crosses that flashed across the box. In the end the lads did get back into it with Ryan's deflected header from Thomas' corner to make it 2-3 with 20 minutes left.
It almost got better just afterwards as Sam's cross was clearly handled in the 6 yard box by a Darlington defender but nothing was given. Not long afterwards Darlington broke away and scored a 4th to make in 4-2 at the end.
Callum had a good game in goal, Sam and Lucas were good throughout but Star Player this week went to Ryan
