Finally back to league action after another 2 week break. They had a new player in their squad today with Lucas Branton making his first appearance from the bench but Finnley missing with a back problem.
The stop nature of the season since Christmas has evidently not helped the Yellows find any kind of rhythm. This was very clear in the first half as Brandon worked much harder than Wear and deservedly led 0-1 at Half time with a good goal from a free-kick that Callum couldn't quite keep out. In truth though it could have been much worse with Callum making 2 good saves at the feet of Brandon strikers and Olly T chasing back after a Callum clearance was blocked, to clear the ball from just in front of his own goal.
The half time team talk revolved around raising the effort levels significantly and fortunately the team responded. Brandon were forced back from the kick off with Sean and Reggie creating a good chance for Thomas whose well struck shot went over. Just afterward Brandon unfortunately went down to 10 men as they had a player injured.
Combined with a big increase in effort levels, the extra player was a big advantage for the Yellows. Lucas equalised midway through the half as he managed to get a bit of room on the edge of the box and lift the ball over the keeper into the far top corner to make it 1-1.
Just over a minute latter good work from Reggie sent Mason down the line and he hit a shot/ cross into the far corner to give the Yellows the lead.
Thomas then hit the bar just before Reggie completed the scoring with a well taken shot from just inside the box to make it 3-1.
Wear had another couple of chances with Riley having a goal disallowed and then a shot cleared off the line.
The game finished 3-1 to the Yellows. Hopefully they can get a run of matches going now and perform better to complete the season.
Star player went to Sean today with good performances from Ryan and Reggie too.
