After last week's commanding victory the Yellows went into Saturday's early trip to Bishop Auckland full of confidence. They welcomed Callum A back in goal for his first game of the season, with last week's goalkeeper Kaden moving into midfield.
Unfortunately the game went very wrong almost from the beginning as the Yellows were second to every ball, weak in the tackle and generally off the pace. AJX had already had a goal disallowed for offside before they eventually went ahead in the 27th minute.
The Yellows managed at this point to get a bit more into the game and after forcing a couple of corners scored an equaliser that was the best moment of quality from them in the game. Ollie H picked the ball up around 20 yards from goal beat a man and placed a shot brilliantly into the top right hand corner or the net. 1-1 at Half-time.
The Yellows were encouraged to up their performance but it appeared the team talk had the opposite effect. The second half was essentially a game of attack vs defence as Wear struggled to get out of their own half. But for the frame of the goal, some good defensive blocks and some excellent saves from Callum the scoreline could have been a lot worse that the final score of 4-1 to AJX.
Overall a very disappointing performance from the Yellows this week. One to learn from and put right as they head into cup action this week.
Star player was a choice between Callum and Ollie with Ollie just taking it with his wonderful first goal for the club.
