Dominant display from understrength Yellows

After last weeks enforced storm break the Yellows returned to action this week missing Lucas, Ethan and Charlie. Sam filled in as goalkeeper and the rest of the lads knew they would have to focus for the whole game as there were no subs. This extra focus seemed to work well for the Yellows though as they produced a dominant display.
The Yellows started on the front and were unlucky to find themselves behind when a strong run from the Shields midfielder saw him hammer the ball home to make it 0-1. Wear responded straight away though with Tyler (who was to have a fantastic game throughout) hit a great shot from the edge of the box that went just wide. Just after this Shields had another attack when Sam had to save well from a fierce shot from distance. From then on in though it was all Wear. Jenson, Freddie and Seb all had good runs to create chances. Seb's in particular was a treat to watch as he won the ball in his own left corner with a great tackle before going on a great run the full length of the pitch. Unfortunately the ball slipped away from him just as he was about to shoot and Shields were able to clear. These were the last chances of the half though. Jenson put the ball wide when set up by Freddie, Jayden had a great shot/cross that went just wide after a clever short corner with Leighton and Freddie put a shot on the turn wide too. It was 0-1 at half time but nobody was sure how.
The second half continued in much the same vein. Wear pushing forward and whenever they lost the ball Shields found Jayden and Seb in great form to stop them. It looked like they would be rewarded in the 30th minute when Jenson was sent through brilliantly by Leighton. The Shields keeper rushed out and made a brilliant save. Jenson wasn't to be denied though and levelled the game a minute later with a lovely turn and left footed finish into the far bottom corner, 1-1.
It only took another minute for the Yellows to go into the lead. Great pressure by Tyler (who was everywhere) forced the ball though to Jenson who hammered home to make it 2-1. In the 34th minute it was nearly 3-1 and Jenson's hat-trick when he headed a lovely Leighton cross towards goal, only to see the keeper make another good save.
South Shields did keep trying to push forward but Jayden and Seb were so good that Sam touched the ball about 4 times in the second half. Tyler, Leighton and Freddie all had good runs before Leighton completed the scoring in the 47th minute with a well struck penalty.
After so many good performances in recent weeks it was great to see the lads get their rewards today. Star player this week was a ridiculously hard decision to make with so many great performances. Tyler was absolutely brilliant and Seb is turning into the new Des Walker but Jenson took the award today, partly for his 2 well taken goal but also for filling in further back later in the game as some of his team-mates tired.
Well played lads, same every week please!!!!
