First game of the new season for Wear United FC Ladies saw them playing away to South Moor Women. Wear United squad including five new faces and all eager to play.

The first half was a very close with few chances at either end. Wear United were closest to breaking the deadlock on 22minutes when Alisha Prest with a fantastic corner found Sophie Fowdy in the opposition box and her header hitting the bar.

South Moor looking to try and control the game were awarded a corner after an attack. From the resulting corner the first goal of the game was scored. The ball appeared bounce of the a few players and find its way past Lauren in goal. Not a classic goal but South Moor than happy to take a 1-0 lead on 37min.

With Tina Adamson always looking a threat up front for Wear United, on the 40th minute Jamie Thompson played a ball through to her, but Tina under pressure could only hit the shot wide.

The second half Wear reverted to a 3-5-2 formation in search of an equaliser but South Moor continued to hold firm. On the 58th minute South Moor got their second with a shot from the edge of the box which deceived Lauren and lobbed over her head into the back of the net 2-0.

Wear continued to show great effort for the rest of the game and always looked a danger from corners, but never really tested the South Moor keeper.

The game ended 2-0 to South Moor who managed the game well and probably deserved the victory.
Next match against Durham United Ladies away on Thursday 6:30pm on the 8th September. Hopefully can get their first goals of the season and points.
