Vedra were back into action after a weather enforced break last week to face Birtley Town BA at Washington hub. Vedra started the game well and forced the Birtley keeper into a couple of really good saves and had shots that went wide but unfortunately it was Birtley who opened the scoring after 25 minutes.
Unfortunately this seemed to rattle Vedra as Birtley scored 3 more goals either side of half time. The second goal a nice cross and finish, the third a penalty after Vedra gave the ball away cheaply and the fourth a shot from outside the box.
It had been a really poor middle part of the game where the focus was too much on arguing and not enough on the actual game. The final 20 minutes of the game saw Vedra more back to themselves. Ollie Cowie scored a good goal with 20 minutes to go but despite a few half chances it wasn't until a penalty from Stu Bowman in the 88th minute that they got a second goal back.
All in all a disappointing game for Vedra and one to learn from an improve on.
