Following on from an opening day victory Vedra went into their second game with renewed confidence. In the end this was to prove important for the game. Similar to last week the opposition had a lot of the territorial advantage but Vedra looked very good when on the ball and looked dangerous going forward. Jamie Coates won a free kick on 8 minutes. Ben McRory curled the ball in and, after a couple of deflections Seth Thompson was the first to react and shot on the turn to make it 1-0 to Vedra.
Stella had a couple of chances and hit the post with a mis-hit cross but overall it was Vedra that looked more dangerous. Mick Graham and Jamie Coates had shots before Jamie was fouled to give Vedra a penalty. Mick Graham stepped up to take but an incredibly long wait to take it meant his shot was saved along with his follow up header. Not to be denied though it was Vedra who got the next goal. Jamie was sent away to chase a ball and challenge the Stella keeper. He blocked the clearance before chipping the ball in on the turn to give Vedra a 2.0 lead at the break.
Stella started the second half well but after holding off an initial onslaught t was again Vedra who scored next. A good move involving Anth Spedding and Ben McRory saw Jamie Coates clear. After Jamie's original shot was blocked he crossed for Mick Graham to score on the volley and make it 3.0.
Vedra created some more chances but in truth Stella had the best of the rest of the game, though their poor finishing and good defending, in particular from Ben Anderson, saw them not really test Tom Chapman in the Vedra goal.
A second win for Vedra and another well deserved on for the effort given and football played. Jamie Coates was Star Player this week but again there was a number of other candidates.
