Wear United Vedra were back to league action with a trip to second bottom Riverview at Washington hub for their penultimate league fixture. The lads were back to just 12 players today but looking to get a positive result after some improved performances recently. Riverview had the best of the first 20 minutes as Vedra took a while to get going, however following a couple of half chances they started to grow into the game. On the 35th minute Regan Turnbull sent Jamie Coates clear to open the scoring with a third goal in three games for him.
The second half was always going to be difficult against a strong wind but the lads held firm for the most part. Unfortunately Riverview scored 2 goals with a crossed free-kick blowing in and a second added 12 minutes from time from an offside position. Vedra tried hard but could only manage a run and shot from Ben Anderson in response.
All in all a better performance. Another sub or a bit more belief would have made a big difference. Star Player was Regan Turnbull but Barry Appleton and Louis Bradley in goal also had good games.
