Vedra were back up to bigger squad today for the away game against Derby Pirates in South Shields. The game started poorly with sloppy defending and a poor work rate leading to a 4-0 lead for The Pirates at half time. It could have been worse for Vedra but for a brilliant goal saving tackle from Marouf Sultan and a clearance off the line by Regan Turnbull. Vedra's best chance of the half being a shot against the post from Mick Graham.
The second half was a much better perfomance from Vedra. The Pirates got another 2 goals, again from poor defending really but Wear responded with 2 of their own. The first from Jamie Coates who managed to score after a goalmouth scramble and he then turned provider as his lofted pass forward was turned in by Mick Graham to make it 6-2 at the end. Overall a poor game of football. The lads need to stock together and work hard until the end of the season.
