United took on Birtley Town with a handful of Vedra players to give a squad of 20 players
United fell behind early on with a shot that was put into the top corner after only 2 minutes but United levelled 3 minutes later when Rob Weiss played the ball down the left to Chris Sproat. Chris got into the box and pulled it back from Chris Madden who took a touch and finished well. 1-1
On the quarter hour though Birtley regained the lead and made it 3-1 on 24 minutes to shock United
It was 3-2 at half time as a lovely move ended with a nice one-two between Chris Sproat and James Slack which ended with Chris reducing the deficit
United made 9 changes at half time but found themselves 4-2 within a couple of minutes of the restart
After that United took control of the game but it wasn't until the 79th minute before United grabbed a third goal when a Ross McLagan corner was headed in via the crossbar by Iain Ray. United then levelled with 5 minutes left when Sam Wade touched forward a pass that Declan Loughlin latched onto. He sat a defender down then found the near post to make it 4-4
United had a chance to win the game with two minutes left when United were awarded a penalty when Kallum Cooper was fouled. Sam Wade stepped up and hit the ball into orbit and the game ended as a draw
Good run out for the lads though and something to build on
