United announce new joint manager

United announce new joint manager

Michael Smith26 May 2021 - 19:33

Stu Bowman takes the helm

Wear United FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Stuart Bowman to work alongside Michael Smith as joint manager of our division 2 Sunday team. This appointment is in place immediately and Stu will be on the touchline with Michael for this Sunday's game against Myers FC

Owner and team joint manager Michael Smith said "this is a fantastic appointment for the team for so many reasons. Stu has been a player of this club since it was formed and shares the same passion as I do. Stu's dedication, commitment and enthusiasm has never wavered through the good and bad times and I know he has the same values and beliefs as me to drive this team forward. This season has been so hard on and off the pitch and I know that I have made mistakes and that is reflected in the position of this team in the league. The players we have are fantastic and we should be higher in the league but due to losing a number of key players through injury and others leaving the team, it has made it very hard. The last few games I have welcomed Stu's input and in the first game he made suggestions we narrowly got beat of unbeaten league leaders 2-1 and could have and probably deserved at least a point. The 2 subsequent games we have lost heavily but Stu has had to be on the pitch for both games and I had to play the last game due to lack of players being available and you can't play and manage at the same time properly. We have three games left this season which we will work alongside each other to finish the season the best we can and then the rebuilding can restart for next season. Finally I just want to say thanks again to Stu for accepting the offer of being joint manager and as always the players that are still turning out week in week out despite the results we have been having recently. Together we will come out of this stronger I have no doubt"

United's next game is away against Myers on Sunday and spectators are allowed - kick off is 10.30am at Billy Hardy Centre in Castletown
